The Umathum winery is located in Burgenland on Lake Neusiedl. Besides authentic red wines, the winery also produces exciting white wines. However, more than 85% of the more than 33 hectares of vineyards are reserved for red wine. Very important and also well-known slopes are Haideboden, Vom Stein, Kirschgarten and Ried Hallebühl. All sites are located around Lake Neusiedl. The site wines only leave the winery after a 3-year storage period and are offered for sale. The Haideboden in its original spelling with "A" covers the area around the pilgrimage site Frauenkirchen. The name Haideboden was first used for this wine in 1991. The grapes for the cuvée come from vineyards west of Frauenkirchen. An Austrian cult wine!Tasting notes:Garnet red in the glass. On the nose, a pronounced fruitiness of cherries, blackberries and currants. On the palate ripe cherries, currants and toasted notes. Long lasting and fine finish. Grape varieties: 60% Zweigelt, 30% Blaufränkisch, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Soil: ferruginous pebbly soil, limestone and clay. Residual sugar: 1.0 g/l. Acidity: 5.2 g/l. Harvest: September and October 2017. Storage potential: Until 2030. Closure: Glass closure. Drinking temperature: 16-18°C. This wine goes very well with game and lamb.
