The Paul Kerschbaum winery is one of the leading wineries in Austria. It is located in the Blaufränkischland Horitschon, in Burgenland. The term "Blaufränkischland" is used to describe a wine-growing region, such as Mittelburgenland, where mainly the grape variety Blaufränkisch is cultivated. Paul Kerschbaum's goal is to produce powerful, long-lasting wines with a touch of wood. In 2011, Paul Kerschbaum put the production of the wines into the hands of his son, Michael. Due to the special location it is possible to produce this noble, traditionally vinified Blaufränkisch. Awards: - 91/100 points from Falstaff Tasting notes:Ruby garnet with delicate rim brightening in the glass. In the nose after fresh heart cherries, forest berries, orange zests and nougat. At the palate complex, fine tannins, after dark berries. Long lasting in the finish. Grape variety: 100% Blaufränkisch. Maturation: 15 months in wooden barrels. Acidity: 5,5 g/l. Closure: screw cap. Drinking temperature: 16°C. This wine is excellent with pasta and rice dishes.
