Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of NIKKA Whisky, sought the best conditions for his first distillery. YOICHI distillery was founded in 1934 in the small coastal town with the same name. This place is known for its cold climate with adequate humidity, fresh clean air and fresh water. The distillation process is still carried out in the distillery using traditional old methods. The stills are heated by direct coal fire, which brings out the roasted notes intensely. The Nikka YOICHI Non-Peated Single Malt Whisky belongs to the new NIKKA Discovery Series. This series produces limited editions to pass the time until the company's 90th anniversary in 2024. This Nikka whisky is a single malt whisky made without peat notes. The surprising freshness and fruitiness is characterized by a light smoky note from the charcoal-fired still. This whisky is bottled without cold filtration. Bottled: 2021 This is a limited bottling.
