Unofficially, distillation has been taking place at Ardbeg Distillery since 1794 - in 1815 the distillery was bought by John McDougall and officially opened under the name Ardbeg. "Ardbeg" comes from the Gaelic language and means translated as "small hill". The distillery is located on the south coast of the whisky region Islay. Dr. Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, presents Ardbeg's new permanent bottling line. A small series that is published annually. This 19 year old Ardbeg is named after the "singing beach" on the south coast of Islay. The maturing takes place in former Bourbon and Oloroso sherry barrels.Tasting notes:Colour: Pale gold. Nose: sweetish, wood, fennel, celery, tea leaves, eucalyptus oil, pine nuts, leather. Taste: Intense, salty, peanut brittle, pineapple, lime, birch tar, peat. Finish: Long lasting, strong, smoky.
