The crowning glory of the Appleton-Rums, hand blended from barrels with at least 21 years maturation.
The good reputation precedes Appleton Estate Rum on all international export markets. This is due on the one hand to the good ingredients and on the other hand to the particularly great care and attention. The high level of experience and the commendable skill of the master distillers do their part to give the rum the correspondingly high quality level.
For the finest rums, the high production costs involved are ignored in order to be able to use the traditionally costly pot still process. Yeast cultures specially developed on the estate are used for fermentation. The mash is distilled in old onion-shaped copper kettles. Here the Master Distiller separates the heart of the distillate with great sensitivity, which then matures carefully in oak barrels. During this maturation period in oak barrels, the Appleton Estate Rum receives its final touch. For this reason, the Estate maintains its own cooperage and seven large warehouses to provide 138,000 barrels of rum with the best conditions for bottling. With her many years of experience, master blender Joy Spence - incidentally the first master blender in the world - decides which rums are to be married to each other, which are then reduced to drinking strength shortly before bottling with the soft spring water of the Black River.
Tasting notes:
Dark golden in colour, with fine vanilla aromas, orange and cocoa notes, absolutely impressive.
